The RIG was created to provide our guest with a uniquely fun and rewarding Louisiana travel experience. Guest can enjoy all of the many activities available in the heart of Cajun Country as we as the opportunity to participate in a range of marsh conservation and restoration projects conducted throughout the year.
Specific vacation packages will be available that combine volunteer activities and tours of local attractions with a healthy dose of free personal time for kayaking in the marsh, inland and offshore fishing or day trips to the City of New Orleans.
The Eoc-lodge is located in the heart of Louisiana's coastal salt-water marsh. The main levels are elevated 25 feet above grade and feature panoramic views of the marsh and the Gulf of Mexico.
The RIG employs aggressively sustainable
practices for it's construction, outfitting and operation including the use of wind and solar power plants to supplement energy demands.
The RIG has it's own dedicated water and sewer treatment facilities.
THE MAIN LODGE
ABOVE Volunteers plant marsh grass on newly established land areas in an effort to rebuild wetland communities that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
Your Coastal Adventure Begins
The RIG is an industrial architectural design constructed to withstand the forces of the inevitable gulf hurricanes. It provides sleeping accommodations for 26 guest and features a two and a half story main lobby with a suspended catwalk that provides access to the sleeping rooms on the second level. The entire space is covered with a structural glass skylight. The roof level provides a large deck area, a game room, an exercise room and a temperature controlled swim-spa.
RIGHT The mobile platform will provide a base of operations and a staging area at restoration sites. It will also be available for special events and private marsh cruises.
